As you are aware, this world can be unforgiving.  Our mistakes, our omissions, our weaknesses, and our inefficiencies seem like a feeding ground for a hungry world.

How am I to respond to this reality? The choice is mine.

I can curl up and whine OR I can expect things to be better in the coming days.  I can take action.  Good things come to those who take action.

Not every opportunity is going to work out.  Not every thing we do is going to be a success.  HOWEVER, each “closed door,” each obstacle, each barrier, each failed well-conceived plan moves us to the “opened door” of opportunity.

I am an OKC Thunder fan.  Last year, when Kevin Durant took his talents to the Golden State Warriors (yeah, I admit it, I’m still ticked about it).  The prevailing thought was that the Thunder were doomed — one of the greatest players of this era left the team — how could they recover from that?

But what did the team do . . . particularly, Russell Westbrook?  They dug deep.  Russ averaged a triple-double and won the season’s MVP.  He wouldn’t win every game, but he WOULD give everything he had in EVERY game.  Never taking a night off.  Never.

He would discipline his mind and body.  He would focus on the goal.  A missed shot or a lost game did not cause him to lose hope.

I have seen too many people simply throw their hands up in despair.  I have seen too many people quit — perhaps one “door” too soon.

Never give up.

Today may stink.  Today may be filled with rejection.

BUT, don’t waste the next day.  Prepare yourself — Tomorrow may be waiting with an “opened door.”
